What is the build construction of properties in Devon and Cornwall?

Most properties have poor e.p.c this must be down to poor constuction materials such as lack of bricks/cavities, why?

  • A lot of properties in the area are built of mundic block which is a poor insulator. Beware because most building societies will turn you down for a mortgage because it also tends to deteriorate when damp.

  • Can't speak for Devon but most Cornish houses are made of solid granite slabs so I'm assuming no cavities to insulate? Mundic block, or concrete made with mining waste, deteriorates over time and many homes (pre 1950's construction) made of this are unmortgageable never mind poorly insulated!
