Building site & residential care home?

Does anybody know how the building of a new residential care home would affect a property's value?

  • Hi nicnshane It is hard to give a definitive answer for this; the best thing you can do is get a free no-obligation appraisal from a qualified local agent through Zoopla (I have supplied the link below). Having said that, there are a few things which could affect your property's value, with your neighbourhood being one of those aspects. A study released by Halifax last year found that one-in-five people had serious problems with neighbours in 2011, with excessive noise and rude behaviour being the top reasons – two problems you shouldn't experience with a care home! Aesthetics also come in to it – does the residential building shadow over your garden or spoil a once decent view? If the home is a conversion of a previous property then this should not change things too much. What are everybody else's experiences of new buildings devaluing their property? Thanks Scott
