Description
Grade II Listed of special architectural or historical interest, Hestley Hall is a former manor farmhouse dating back to the early 16th century. There are records originally back to Doomsday where there was believed to be a settlement positioned around a full moat. There are many attractive period features inside the house including high wall timbered ceilings, large open fireplaces and some stencilled designs dating from 1525 in one of the rooms. Principally constructed on a timber frame there are early 19th century additions to the house with the external elevation being plastered under pitched pegtiled roofs. The house has undergone a sympathetic renovation programme including re-wiring, a new fitted kitchen and the installation of central heating system. The grounds are a mix of formal gardens, wooded areas and moats all surrounded by open hedged countryside.
A separate driveway leads to a wonderfully converted barn and there is planning consent to convert a further barn to a residential dwelling.
