Property description

5 McKinlays Quay is a modern executive type detached family house providing a generous depth of accommodation over two light and bright and easily managed levels.

The house is about 10 years old and it is only one of a handful of similarly designed detached houses which form this pretty enclave.

The property is completed in quartz render finish under a tiled roof and the principal front rooms enjoy views to the upper reaches of the Holy Loch as well as surrounding high sided glens.

Clean laminate flooring is mainly on the ground floor with carpeting at first floor level. The kitchen has been refitted in recent times and the house features two warming multi fuel stoves which support the central heating.

Outer canopy porch, broad entrance reception hallway with stylish open plan, open tread staircase, cloaks cupboard and separate cloakroom & wc, formal dining room with box window formation, utility room, generous open plan refitted and integrated kitchen with informal dining and breakfasting bar, itself open to comfortable family sitting room with bright corner picture windows and multi fuel stove, a French door leads to the rear gardens.

An open plan, open tread staircase leads to first floor upper hallway, 2 x general purpose store cupboards, 1 x double fronted cupboard with domestic hot water tank, access hatch to roof space, bath and shower room with linen cupboard, first floor sitting room with multi fuel stove and really impressive outlooks to upper reaches of Holy Loch, bedrooms 1,2 & 3 all with double fronted fitted wardrobes, bedroom 4 (master) with larger double fronted fitted wardrobes and en suite shower room and wc.

Integral double garage with new gas boiler, internal integral access from reception hall, personal door access to rear gardens, separate up and over doors, concrete floor, light and power.

Block paved driveway leading to garage and vehicle hard standing area, mature level lawn at the front. Rear gardens laid mainly to grass with rocky outcrop backdrop, bounded by close board fencing, block paved patio and flag stone pathway.

5 McKinlays Quay is situated in a pretty little executive enclave of similarly styled executive homes just off the A815 in the suburban town of Sandbank which is the ribbon settlement on the southern edge of the Holy loch and just to the northern side of the Cowal peninsula town of Dunoon.

The centre of the bustling town of Dunoon is only a short drive to the south. Dunoon is the main town of the Cowal Peninsula and has a complete range of shopping, leisure and professional services. The town has a good range of welcoming pubs and restaurants, a library, hospital, secondary school, theatre, cinema, swimming pool and leisure centre. There is a primary school in Sandbank. Some children in the area attend the independent school of St Columba’s in Kilmacolm and a private bus service is in operation from Gourock.

Located on the scenic Cowal Peninsula in Argyll, 5 McKinlays Quay is only a short drive from both the Caledonian McBrayne and Western Ferries terminals from where there are frequent passenger and vehicular sailings across to Gourock. From here, the road and public transport links make it possible to commute on a daily basis to Glasgow and the central belt.

It is equally possible to drive to Glasgow via Loch Lomond which takes a little longer but is via some of the most famous and breathtaking countryside in western Scotland.

Dunoon is the gateway to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and can easily be described as having some of the most dramatic and picturesque scenery in the west of Scotland, it is indeed an outdoor enthusiasts playground.

As with most parts of Scotland, one is never too far from a golf course and Dunoon is no exception - the district having three challenging courses.

The expanding Holy Loch Marina is nearby with its berthing and associated chandlery services, an excellent base from which to sail and explore the world famous lower Clyde and Kyles of Bute inland sea lochs and waterways.

Sea fishing is available on the Firth of Clyde and it is possible to fish for salmon and sea trout by permit on some of the rivers and lochs of the district, with the River Eachaig, the freshwater Loch Eck only a few minutes’ drive to the north.

Some of the local estates can, by arrangement, offer rough and commercial shooting as well as opportunities to stalk for roe, sika and red deer.

The area is renowned for its spectacular scenery. Benmore Botanic Garden is only five miles away and there are near endless walks, hill climbs and quiet country roads offering wonderful rambling and cycling country.
